I went for an interview at a webdesign firm who explained to me that seo forms a big part of their month-to-month turn over and I pretended to be very interested. but in the back of my mind I was thinking: Search Engine What?!
Search engine optimization can in brief be described as optimizing your internet site to perform well on yahoo and google. It’s also termed SEO for short or referred to as online marketing or website marketing.
Since seo is still a relatively new principle for many individuals, I have made a decision to shed a bit of light on probably the most popular SEO myths:
SEO delivers quick results. The fact is that the opposite is true! Seo includes a lot of factors - from ensuring that your website is SEO friendly (more on this later) to articles, submissions and building links, and all of this will take time! Generally an effective SEO campaign take between 3 and 4 months to start delivering results and it is recommended to continue with the efforts for at least 12 months or until your websites are firmly grounded on the first page of the search engines for all your keywords.
Search engine optimisation is very expensive. This can be different from business to business but the bottom line is that SEO doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg! Research a number of online marketing businesses and compare their packages before making a decision. Some businesses charge exuberant “setup” fees whilst others might offer less expensive all-in-one solutions. Discuss your requirements and your spending budget with the marketing company - reliable companies understand that not all businesses have lots of money available for website marketing and will generally be able to get you started on a basic package and little by little upgrade you if needed.
I pay for PPC, so I don’t need seo. PPC in internet lingo refers to Pay Per Click - in other words your site will rank well on yahoo and google for certain keywords and phrases, but only for as long as you pay to have those keywords on top. I am not saying that PPC is not rewarding, but I firmly believe PPC should be combined with SEO. and once your website is performing well in the natural results (thanks to Search engine optimization efforts) you can essentially stop spending money on PPC. The benefit of PPC is that it delivers instant results; therefore it’s a wise decision to invest in PPC while your SEO campaign is little by little delivering results in the background.
Search engine optimization is as easy as pie. Unfortunately seo is a very complex and time consuming process. If it was that clear-cut, there would not be companies dedicated to offering this particular service. If you’re not clued up with the way the web works it is better to make use of a professional company.
SEO is not something that only “other companies do” - ensure that you discuss search engine ranking with your website or online marketing company without delay!
